ADS has a tried and tested high quality practice curriculum mapped both to the Professional Capabilities Framework and the Knowledge and Skills statements ensuring students experience a breadth of Social Work learning in a multi-disciplinary environment. All students are supported by experienced and qualified Practice Educators. We use an ‘inhouse’ model to ensure Practice Educators are familiar with the intricacies of work in this specialist field. Students are able to experience all elements of a complete substance use treatment system from direct access and assessment through to titration for Opiate Substitution Therapy, to care planning, detox, community rehabilitation and aftercare. Students apply for a placement with us through their university’s application process and thereafter are interviewed by a panel of our Social Work staff which includes Practice Educators.
