Compassionate/ Special Leave

We recognise that there are times when life gives people nasty and unexpected surprises and being able to have time away from work to focus on these surprises can be crucial.

Up to 5 days paid leave is available to people where life throws up nasty and unexpected surprises. For example, a breakdown in carer arrangements for dependents or the sudden illness or death of a dependent or someone you are close to.

Doctor, Dentist & Hospital appointments

Critical to staying healthy is being able to attend health care appointments. Our Health care appointment policy supports you to do just that with the minimum of fuss and without having to use your annual leave.

We believe that annual leave is best used to give people time and space with their families and friends. To support this attendance at essential medical and dental appointments will be allowed during the working day and employees will not normally be required to make this time up. Other circumstances where time off with pay will be granted under the policy include,

  • Time off with pay to attend ante-natal classes.
  • Emergency appointments
